Gurseva first formed in the 1990's in response to the Bosnian refugee crisis, and is now a registered not-for-profit charity with a wide range of programmes that still includes crisis & disaster emergency responses.
We apply the philosophy of "Sarbatt da Bhala," which means Prosperity for All.
We have two goals – to help those who are vulnerable, and to try and help others understand how they can best recycle, reuse and reduce resources.
We are a 100% volunteer led organisation, and we are always looking for people to make suggestions about initiatives that will aim to highlight issues in the community. One of our regular initiatives involves weekly trips into Central London to provide hot food, refreshments, clothing, sanitary products, and a friendly ear to those who are homeless or in shelters.
Our volunteers are based both in and around the surrounding areas of London and also in other cities across the UK. We are currently speaking to volunteers looking to provide similar services on a more regular basis within the Midlands area.
We are dedicated to helping not only the community but the environment around us. We try and drive projects that harness the recycling of resources, we collect used clothing and donated/unwanted food and redistribute to those who can't afford warm/clean clothing and food.
